Our Elementary program provides engaging, advanced curriculum which allows each child to be challenged and work at their own pace to reach their full potential. By using a fusion of inquiry based investigations and authentic learning opportunities, we cultivate curiosity and facilitate a love of learning. We celebrate diversity and culture through values lessons, introduction to other languages, special guest visitors, celebrating international holidays, and have open discussions about who we are as individuals.
We believe in a holistic approach to education, one that focuses on the entire child. One example of the blending of Eastern and Western educational traditions is our strong focus on the social-emotional growth of our students. The students have weekly values lessons but also learn about yoga and mindfulness, are introduced to techniques to help them solve conflicts and work in teams, and work on their growth mindset by making and learning from their mistakes. Our goal is to always push our students to be the best they can be and to create live-long learners.
Singapore Math and Journeys are selected as textbooks in our curriculum. For Singapore Math, students begin by learning through concrete and pictorial means before moving into abstract thought and development, which encourages an active thinking process, communication of mathematical ideas and problem solving. We are also using Journeys, which is a comprehensive K-6 English language arts program, providing an instructional system for reading both literature and informational texts, for acquiring foundational skills, and for developing mastery of speaking, listening, and writing. In addition to Journeys, we also utilize aspects of the Reader’s and Writer’s Workshop, a comprehensive, standards based model using authentic literature and built on student assessment.
